- CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire: Required
- Oregon Food Handlers certification within 30 days of hire: Required
- Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS) within 30 days of hire: Required
- Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) within 30 days of hire: Required
- Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants course Certificate (SSOI) within 30 days of hire: Required
- Foundations For Learning (FFL) within 30 days of hire: Required
- Heartsaver CPR (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) or Healthstream Basic Life Support (HS-BLS) or RQIBLS: Required
- FH OR OFH OR FH-efoodcard: Required
- First Aide (FA): Required
- Assists in the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities on a daily basis, in accordance with Great 'n Small guidelines and procedures. Assists the teachers in meeting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. Helps evaluate programs for quality improvement.
- Ensures childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic and consistent with good child development principles. Routines include, but are not limited to, diapering, toilet training, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities. Adds to the learning environment by creating a pleasing, inviting classroom atmosphere where children feel comfortable and secure paying attention to soft spaces and appropriate voice tones.
- Provides positive guidance and redirection strategies to help children develop the ability to be self-regulated. Participates in experiences which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play and creativity through music, art, movement and general expression.
- Participates in a variety of opportunities to help children develop and understand appropriate relationships with others. Provides social skill building assistance that is developmentally appropriate.
- Helps ensure the classroom is operating in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, paying particular attention to ensure that standards prohibiting corporal punishment are followed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
