The SHC should demonstrate an understanding of financial options to support specialty case acceptance, educating patients on treatment choices, overcoming common patient objections, and proactively keeping Specialists schedules productive for smooth specialty days. The Specialty Healthcare Coordinator should support each patient in a consultative and educational manner while consistently supporting a Perfect Patient Experience (PPE) and creating Patients for Life (PFL).ResponsibilitiesModels company culture, values, standards and best operational practices based on the We Believe Behavioral FrameworkGain a financial commitment from the patient to start the treatment as diagnosed by the SpecialistAchieve proficiency in PDS system and tools, skills, and talents to assist patients in making the best possible decision for their unique wants and needsPrioritization of Specialty coordination and consultation; Subject Matter Expert for treatment plans that include specialty treatmentProactive management of the Specialists’ schedules to ensure that they are full, staggered, balanced, and productive with appropriate paperwork for treatment completedActs as a liaison for the office and specialty teams; facilitates communication, schedule considerations, consultations, treatment plan changes, and subsequent patient care with scheduling follow up appointments with specialty, GP and hygieneUnderstand and utilize all available financial options to give patients choices to start dentistry that fits in their budgetProfessionally overcome common patient objections to starting treatment prior to the patient arriving for their specialty appointmentObtain necessary insurance pre-authorizations for patients who need this prior to completing treatmentActive participant in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings and any other meetings as requiredThorough understanding of Specialty goals and metrics, including additional reports used for tracking key metrics and patient careDemonstrates stewardship of the PDS Brand making decisions consistent with the PDS Brand frameworkBecomes knowledgeable on the Mouth Body Connection and supports clinical excellence through comprehensive patient careMaintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies; addresses others professionally and respectfullyEnsures Compliance with Company policies, as well as State, Federal and other regulatory bodiesOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsHigh School Diploma or general education degree (GED)Travel might be required between officesPreferredPrior course work or on-the-job training in the fields or dentistry, insurance, or business.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of office practices, technology applications and patient insurancesResults Oriented (Energetic self-starter; sets realistic goals; meets commitments; persistent, prioritizes daily to achieve results)Patient Advocate (flexible and adaptive; empathetic; passionate; ethical)Process Focused Operator (data driven decision-maker; detailed; organized and structured; comprehensive knowledge of all operational processes; computer proficient)Financial Acumen (understands profit drivers; utilizes metrics to manage; builds the financial understanding of team membersInfluencer (active listener/observer of behavior; creates a win/win need for change)Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a teamAbility to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of the workExcellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skillsAbility to handle and maintain extreme confidentially Patient recordsOrganized, detail-oriented individual able to work in a fast-paced environmentBenefits
