Now is the perfect time to begin your Automotive Technician career with McCarthy Chevrolet Overland Park! We are seeking to hire an Automotive Technician Apprentice.Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior automotive technicians in diagnosing vehicle issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines while working in the automotive repair shop.
  • Gain familiarity with automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Assist in repairing and replacing worn or defective parts, including belts, hoses, spark plugs, and brakes.
  • Shadow experienced technicians during complex repair procedures to learn best practices and techniques.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used for each repair or maintenance task.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and tools.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for learning and skill development through training programs and workshops.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance and punctuality requirements.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Provide your own tools/toolbox.
  • Enrolled or willing to enroll in an automotive technician apprenticeship program.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive repair.
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move heavy parts and equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in automotive repair or maintenance.
  • Completion of vocational training in automotive technology or related field.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools and software.
  • Certifications from reputable automotive organizations (e.g., ASE certifications).
