Salary: $160,000 – $190,000 + Meaningful Equity Company DescriptionWe’re an early-stage, well-funded startup building a voice/text/email AI agent for property management. The agent integrates directly with property management systems, ingests and normalizes data, and automates the workflows that keep buildings running — from maintenance to tenant communications. Our stack combines TypeScript-first development , serverless deployments (Vercel), workflow orchestration (Inngest), Postgres-based domain schemas, and LLMs (OpenAI primary, but provider-agnostic) — with a pragmatic, solve-the-problem mindset when it comes to tools and languages. We’re a small founding team of repeat builders who’ve scaled companies like Newfront, AtoB, and Pave. This is a hands-on, high-ownership environment where you’ll be shipping production systems quickly, working closely with customers, and directly shaping product and infrastructure in an emerging AI space. What You Will Do
- Design, build, and operate full-stack, backend-leaning systems in TypeScript that power the Agent — REST/GraphQL APIs, serverless functions, data pipelines, and low-latency integrations that support production usage at scale.
- Own integrations with third-party property management systems: implement ETL/ingestion flows, normalize heterogeneous upstream data, design reconciliation logic, and ensure robust, observable syncs.
- Model and maintain Postgres schemas: design migrations, optimize queries, enforce data integrity, and evolve a unified schema consumable by our agent infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with product, ML/agent, and operations teams to define APIs and data contracts enabling LLM-driven behavior; instrument systems with OpenTelemetry, iterate rapidly, and ship features to meet customer events and onboarding deadlines.
- Raise engineering standards: implement automated testing, CI/CD, observability, performance tuning, and rigorous code reviews; mentor teammates and formalize backend/database best practices in a high-intensity startup environment.
- Operate with urgency and ownership during critical phases (expect ~60 hours/week during product pushes) while maintaining sustainable performance, health, and team balance.
- 2–6+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in SaaS or platform products.
- Proven track record building backend-first full-stack systems from integrations and data modeling through production.
- Deep, hands-on PostgreSQL expertise — schema design, migrations, query optimization, indexes, and operational best practices.
- Practical experience integrating with third-party APIs and building ETL/data pipelines; property management systems experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, Node, Java), with strong fundamentals in systems and API design.
- Experience with serverless architectures (Vercel or equivalent) and event/workflow orchestration (Inngest-style patterns).
- Familiarity with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry) and LLM integrations (OpenAI or similar) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating customer needs into technical designs.
- High agency, entrepreneurial mindset, and comfort in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to past roles/projects (cautious about frequent job-hopping).
- Experience with AWS, Docker, production deployments, and scalable API/service design.
- Background at high-growth product companies or startups (e.g., DoorDash, Airbnb, Rippling, Mercury, Ramp, Meta, Amazon) is a plus — but we value execution over pedigree.
- Interest in AI/agent infrastructure and willingness to learn LLM evaluation and observability tooling.
- Salary: $160,000 – $190,000 base
- Equity: Meaningful ownership in an early-stage company
- Health: ICHRA contribution (~$650/month toward premiums)
