Job Purpose/DescriptionProvide exceptional service for library patrons. Foster a welcoming environment by greeting all patrons with a smile.Demonstrate a willingness to help by initiating conversations with patrons and by answering or referring patron questions.Interact positively with College faculty and staff. Interpret and enforce library policies and procedures. Assist patrons in-person, over the phone, and via email.Job Duties
  • Perform circulation functions
  • Check materials in and out
  • Process renewal requests
  • Collect cash payments
  • Navigate course reserves
  • Sort and shelve materials
  • Participate in shelf maintenance (inventory, shelf-reading, and shifting)
  • Complete material retrieval and scanning
  • Answer the phone
  • Schedule room reservations
  • Cleaning/Sanitizing public spaces and work areas
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current or incoming CSS student
  • Federal work study eligibility is required
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills required; attention to detail; ability to multitask, problem-solve, and prioritize; must have basic computer skills, experience with Google Documents and Google Calendar, ability to work some evening and weekend hours. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance is essential
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer Service, library, and computer experience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to incoming Freshmen and Sophomores, or students with prior library experience.
  • Preference may also be given to students who live on-campus, due to opening/closing due to extreme weather conditions.

  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Talking and hearing for telephone and in-person communication.
  • Ascending and descending stairs.
