Chief EngineerOversees two properties: Voyager Inn and Aspen Suites Anchorage Downtown (to open December 1)Position Purpose:This individual is responsible to maintain the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel. Adhere to all management company required purchasing policies and controls including the PO (purchase order) process. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA. Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel as needed.The Benefits of Being Part of OUR Family:

Reports to: Property General Manager and Area Director of Engineering Chief Engineer – Primary Tasks/Responsibilities: Respond to maintenance work orders and requests from departments and handle based on priority of issue(s).
  • Responsible for the sourcing, interviewing/hiring and technical training of Maintenance Engineer Associates.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance on equipment scheduled in guestrooms, public spaces and all mechanical and related equipment as appropriate.
  • Manage the guestroom PM program per company SOP.
  • Perform walk around inspections on equipment with a critical eye through checking equipment for condition and maintain proper documentation of same.
  • Conduct departmental training on equipment to cover specific points in the daily operations of the department.
  • Report status of equipment to General Manager and or Area Director of Engineering (as applicable), track through service sheets or verbal communications to ensure proper functions and safety.
  • Be proactive in monitoring the general condition of the building and surroundings at all times, walking the property.
  • Ongoing responsibility to ensure the company culture is understood and fully embraced.
  • Responsible for the weekly scheduling of associates for Engineering.
  • Responsible for assisting the General Manager in the budgeting, forecasting, and planning for the department.
  • Interacting with all associates in the department providing ongoing and feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Manage operating expenses to minimize costs while providing an excellent guest product and service levels.
  • Interact with vendors and service companies as may be required on engineering projects.
  • All other engineering/maintenance related duties, tasks and responsibilities as communicated by the property’s General Manager and Anchorage Area Director of Engineering
