What are Direct Support Professionals Responsible For?We are a 100% community-based program providing a wide variety of supports to adults who experience intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). All supports are designed to be person-centered with a focus on skill building, meaning that what we do looks different depending on the person we are working with and the goals they set for themselves. We have some people working on health and physical or mental fitness goals. Supports for them look like going to the gym or swimming pool and building skills in those places. Others are working on making friends and learning how to be a good friend, while others are learning how to manage their budget to meet their savings goals. This type of support might look like going to that mall to meet up with a potential friend, and practicing price checking and comparison shopping when ordering lunch. As Direct Support Professionals, we also provide more personal supports, called ADLs, or activities of daily living. This could include various types of hygiene care, catheter changing, and/or support around different safety risks and behavioral concerns. We look forward to intentionally adding in the opportunities for individuals to participate in group activities! This looks like 2-5 clients going on adventures with 1 support worker doing things like bowling, swimming, trips to OMSI, the Oregon Zoo, etc. Essentially, this job is as varied and flexible as your creativity allows it to be!Customer service, a positive can-do attitude, and pivoting as needed are crucial values to your success in meeting MV Advancements' mission.No experience is required for this role. We will teach you everything that you need to know! Just come with an open mind, and a desire to learn and serve, and you can succeed with MV Advancements!SalaryThis position starts at $18.00, with a 15% shift differential. All hours worked between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM and any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday earn a shift differential of 15% of your hourly rate! We also offer a $500 sign-on bonus--$250 at the time of hire and $250 after your first six months.Benefits (benefits with a * are for full-time employees only)
