
Component Engineer

- Develop mechanical information related to standard components and maintain in appropriate database(s).
- Provide technical guidance for new component development working closely with product managers and the CoC.
- Identify and evaluate cost savings for parts and manufacturing procedures.
- Responsible for guidance of technical designs for projects according to GEA standards, customer specifications and applicable regulations including USDA and 3A.
- Coordinates as dictated by project requirements alongside other project contributors including 3rd party suppliers, procurement, fabrication, quality control, design, automation, process engineering, project engineering, component engineering and structural engineering.
- Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, resolves engineering design and test problems.
- Reviews product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, manufacturability, and related specifications.
- Attends design review meetings for key project components and for all components of a new or customized nature.
- Collaborates with fabrication shops to optimize manufacturability and cost.
- Creates component technical specifications for design department and participates in design reviews.
- Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
- Creates and maintains technical operating manuals identifying and describing equipment operating characteristics.
- Specifies buyout components and supports procurement in price negotiation.
- Coordinates project specific structural engineering requirements.
- Creates item requirements in ERP system.
- Creates spare parts list for components.
- Participates in USDA-3A workgroups.
- Provides technical mentoring, leadership, and training to project teams.
- Completes other tasks as assigned by line manager.
- Proven interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting
- Must possess good English language communication skills both written & verbal
- Computer Literate and proficient in MS Office products
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering - Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Food Science or related field
- Experience in Mechanical engineering, manufacturing, FEA and AutoCAD and/or Inventor
- Knowledgeable in 3A and USDA regulations
- 3+ years or experience in dairy component technology or related industry
- Structural engineering familiarity preferred
- Must be willing to travel on average 25% of the time
