Strategic Leadership and Team Management
- Assigning and reviewing the work of systems analysts, developers, and other computer-related workers.
- Directing daily operations of the department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines.
- Participating in tactical and strategic planning teams at the agency level.
- Meeting with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
- Developing and interpreting organizational goals, policies, and procedures.
- Analyzing and documenting high-level information requirements of the organization, planning and conducting risk assessment activities to define information technology risks faced by the organization, and developing, maintaining, and publicizing a plan for managing information technology positions and personnel.
- Consulting with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess technology needs and system requirements.
- Evaluating data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
- Reviewing and approving all systems charts and programs prior to implementation.
- Developing information technology resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
- Evaluating the organization's technology use and needs and recommending improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades.
- Managing backup, security, and user help systems.
