Description:
Duties: To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for performing inspections and enforcing City Ordinances, and state laws related to vacant lots, dilapidated buildings, abandoned vehicles; to research legal descriptions and identify property owners; and to provide information and assistance to the public regarding city codes and ordinances. Receive complaints and notices of violation; assign work to inspectors; review inspection reports; enforce local codes and state laws relating to private property. Follow up on inspections to ensure compliance.Qualifications: Four years of experience in building construction, code enforcement or a related field, including one year of supervisory or lead responsibility. Ability to obtain certification as a building inspector through SBCCI within one year of employment. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12) grade supplemented by additional training in building construction, code enforcement or a related field.PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.“EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER”EXERCISES DIRECT SUPERVISION OVER CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERSPLAN, PRIORITIZE, ASSIGN, SUPERVISE AND REVIEW THE WORK OF STAFF RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING HOUSING CODE ENFORCEMENT, PROPERTY INSPECTIONSRECEIVE COMPLAINTS AND NOTICES OF VIOLATION; ASSIGN WORK TO INSPECTORS; REVIEW INSPECTION REPORTS; ENFORCE LOCAL CODES AND STATE LAWS RELATING TO PRIVATE PROPERTYFOLLOW-UP ON INSPECTIONS TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE; PROVIDE CONTINUOUS INVESTIGATIONS UNTIL VIOLATIONS HAVE BEEN ABATED; GENERATE SPECIFICATIONS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH VIOLATION NOTICESUPERVISE AND PARTICIPATE IN THE PREPARTION OF COURT CASES; ASSEMBLE FILES, DATA, FACTS, AND PHOTOGRAPHS TO ASSIST IN THE PROSECUTION OF CASESEXPERIENCE:
FOUR YEARS OF INCREASINGLY RESPONSIBLE EXPERIENCE IN CITY CODE ENFORCEMENT, INCLUDING ONE YEAR OF SUPERVISORY OR LEAD RESPONSIBILITYTRAINING:
