- Development/Management of production team skills, facilitate and enable process
- Develop and maintain a well-trained and motivated staff by fostering teamwork and accountability to company standards and objectives.
- Assist in the hiring of new staff members and properly orientating them to plant operations.
- Assist in training and career pathing to review
- the individual and team's performance. Identify to identify, coach, and mentor the production team as well as cross-functionally.
- Monitor and address equipment needs and ensure high production efficiencies.
- Creates a technical vision for the department and plans for implementation of technical projects/ lines, processes, etc.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Participates as an active member of companies' safety initiatives including as a member of the HazMat team.
- Dispense advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures consistent with established policies within the Processing department.
- Understanding of customer and vendor lot tracking, cost accounting, scheduling, and planning.
- The Operations Manager is responsible for planning and budgeting labor, materials, and overhead costs, as well as meeting budget goals and objectives.
- Ensure production schedules, sourcing, and personnel planning meet the shipping demands.
- Maintain production schedule for products and labor.
- Timecard management, approval, and overseeing leave requests.
- Ensure product costing, tie out, and reporting is completed daily.
- Ensure labor is coded and scheduled correctly, labor counts, roll call, reporting is completed to match needs to run effectively.
- Coordinate with scheduling and planning to ensure materials, raw materials, packaging and all needs are prepared, ready and staged for production.
- Coordinate with sanitation, maintenance, and warehouse for correct staffing, support and direction for supporting departments.
- Coordinate with sales, quality, sanitation, safety, warehouse, and purchasing.
- Develop new methods, procedures, and controls to ensure the Processing area meets the objectives.
- Provide the necessary information, reports, comparisons, and data that may be needed to facilitate corporate decision-making and to keep the Plant Director informed of operations plans, problems, and opportunities.
- Ensure the safety of team members by evaluating procedures, environment, and equipment to ensure that OSHA requirements are met.
- Development and execution of short- and long-term Processing department plans
- Drive's organization initiatives and is an active member and leader for continuous improvement projects that include Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost Reduction, Employee Development, and Customer Satisfaction.
- Planning and providing operations expertise to peers and senior management
- Establishes current and long-range objectives and policies
- Reviews operating results of the processing department, compares them to established objectives and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results
- Creates respective budgets, allocates resources, and determines project deadlines
- Directs department activities through subordinates, to improve production techniques, analyzes technology trends and human resource needs
- Forecasts operating costs of the department and directs preparation of budgets
- Ensure compliance with government regulations in employee safety, food safety, environmental, and employee practices. (FDA, HACCP, GMP, USDA, EPA, OSHA, SOP's and SSOP's)
- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Follow all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Agriculture Business, Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a similar field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in plant management or a similar role within the food processing industry is required. Experience and/or training in the food industry/USDA environment.
- Bi-lingual preferred.
- HACCP Certification Preferred
- Professional and practical communication skills: Interpersonal, verbal, and written.
- Superior detail orientation, time management, project management, analytical, mathematical, investigative, problem-solving, and organizational skills are required.
- Advanced computer software skills: MS Excel, Word, Outlook required.
- Experience with ERP, ATS/HCMPowerBI, and various other enterprise-class systems
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise to ensure its correct use
- This position will work out of our Cedar location.

- Occasional lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as buckets of fruit, boxes, pails, etc. Lifting requirement: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. independently.
- Other duties as assigned requiring repetitive tasks, duties, or assignments such as sorting, packing, stacking, or cutting.
- Work flexible/varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
- You will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and vibration. Exposure to cleaning products and agents for the sanitation of equipment and machinery regularly.
- Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
