The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background and be well-versed in electrical motor design and regularly interact with targeted customers to identify the right applications for the products under development or provide guidance to the R&D product development team on the new products to be developed to meet current and future customer demands of non-oriented electrical steels. Superior communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work cross-functionally with other areas of the organization including East Chicago Product Development team, Operations, Quality, Commercial, and Global R&D. Knowledge and application of advanced data analysis techniques including AI is desirable. Close collaboration on electrical steels processing with ArcelorMittal's sister research laboratories is required the candidate will report to ArcelorMittal's Global R&D product portfolio team and will be located at our office in Southfield, MI. Travel both domestic and international up to 40% of the time is also a requirement.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand, follow and comply with all safety requirements.
- Promote the right NOES product for the right motor application.
- Establish ArcelorMittal brand value.
- Be the voice of the customer to ArcelorMittal and voice of ArcelorMittal to the customer.
- Closely monitor competitive threats.
- Be the ArcelorMittal representative at the standards committee to establish new standards.
- Create, plan, and execute R&D projects observing timelines, budgets, and company safety rules.
Minimum/Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- Understanding the design of different motors and how they are influenced by NOES product design is a must
- Good understanding of electromagnetism and electromagnetic theory
- Strong strategic thinking capabilities aided by artificial intelligence techniques.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Ability to work in a dedicated team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to travel at least 40% of the time
- MS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering
- Good projects management skills.
- Ability to create and deliver excellent presentations is a must
- Excellent knowledge of electromagnetic theory and modeling
- Proficient in planning and managing projects.
