  • Assist in geomechnical project oversight and review, relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning.
  • Assist in slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews.
  • Communicate accurate, timely and relevant slope stability and geomechnical information to mine and site personnel.
  • Assist in conducting and communicating the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads.
  • Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, geomechnical data acquisition and analyses. Perform other duties as required
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years engineeringexperience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, OR
  • Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience inengineering.
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of Mining, Mining Engineering and Geotechnical applications in a hard rock open pit mine environment
  • Knowledge of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis
  • Skilled at researching, analyzing and communicating information of considerable difficulty and develop appropriate conclusions and action plans
  • Skilled in managing Engineering projects related to a hard rock open pit setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diversely educated audience
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical experience in soil mechanics and rockmechanics
  • Experience with monitoring equipment: ground based radar, robotic total stations, piezometers, inclinometers, InSAR
  • Exeprience with software: AutoCAD, Civil3D, MS3D, Maptek PointStudio or Vulcan
  • Experience supervising and/or planning drilling programs (RC, core, sonic, etc)
  • Experience supervising contractors for project execution on a job site
  • Supervision or fill in supervision experience of non-exempt employees
  • Familiarity with ROM and Waste Dump Planning, construction, and operation
  • Strong knowledge base on networking and MIS systems for geomechanical monitoring systems
  • Strong diagnostic skills for mechanical or computer hardware equipment
  • technical writing skills
  • Experience with Monitoring Action Plans, Geomechanical Action Plans, or Trigger Action Response Plans
What We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $84,000-$116,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
