- Manage and develop front line supervisors and employees of various groups, ensuring they comply with Doyon Utilities’ policies and work procedures.
- Coordinates and performs periodic site inspections and provide feedback to the Director and construction project manager regarding QC compliance, safety issues and general status of projects and activities by DU employees and DU contractors.
- Participates in annual budget preparation and development of capital improvement projects.
- Perform periodic audits and inspections to ensure proper accountability of materials.
- Review’s worksite logs, production reports and specification sheets to verify that reports adhere to quality control standards and specifications.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Gathers, enters, and reviews information for reports to outside agencies as well as reviewing the Operations and Maintenance Weekly and Monthly reports.
- Provide guidance to the work leaders to assure scheduling of time off by employees to minimize the use of overtime.
- Assists in establishing job scheduling, workflows, and maintenance scheduling to ensure compliance with the installation’s guidelines and Doyon Utilities Construction Standards.
- Monitors employee involvement with the DU loss prevention program ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducts inspections, provides training, and investigates incidents to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Initiates the procurements of supplies and materials for individual jobs and maintenance activities and ensure availability of essential equipment to complete the job.
- Recommend revision to methods of operation, construction, material use, equipment layout and standards used in utility construction, maintenance, and quality of final product.
- Observes worker and company activities to verify that construction and maintenance activities are being conducted in according to company QC and safety standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management and engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards. If necessary, prepares sketches showing construction details and prepares lists of materials.
- Ensure CHPP maintenance is performed in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Process Technology or Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Required
- 7+ years of utility or construction industry or operation and maintenance of industrial facilities. Required and
- 4 years of supervisory experience. Preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with CMMS software (Maximo, preferred).
- General knowledge of construction, operational processes, maintenance, safety, and the ability to communicate with the customers, craft, engineers, inspectors, and government personnel.
- Knowledge of utility construction, utility operations and maintenance, value engineering, basic utility design features, and construction safety are required.
- Knowledge of environmental terminology, principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and construction of utility infrastructure applicable to utility operations on a military installation in Alaska.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of construction standards and techniques, construction management and inspection techniques and be able to relate those skills to written reports related to QC inspections at the installations.
