When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.The Brownstone Building OPD Dental program is dedicated to providing comprehensive Dental Hygiene care, General Dentistry and Oral Maximal Facial Surgical treatments. Staffing includes full time and part time dentists, dental surgeons, and residents in training as well as dental hygienists and dental assistants. A high standard of excellence in personalized dental care enables us to provide exceptional dental services for our patients. We offer a full range of services that are offered Monday thru Friday 8:15am-4:30PM.Services include the following:General Dentistry (for both adults & kids), Dental Cleanings & Exams, Cosmetic Dentistry, Crowns & Bridges, Fillings, Root Canal Therapy, Extractions, Bonding, Fluoride Treatment, Teeth Whitening, Dental Implants, Dentures, and Periodontal treatments.Job Summary:Provides dental patient care, office and laboratory duties according to Department of Dentistry standards and policies along with scope of practice for the State of Connecticut. Maintains HIPPA practices all relevant regulatory compliance and safety requirements:Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides support to dentist, surgeons, hygienist and staff as needed; assist chair-side, hands instruments and materials to dentists maintain filed of operation during dental procedures through appropriate technique: i.e. Suction, irrigation, drying, or other devices(Four- Handed Dentistry); Prepares materials for impressions and restorations; completes dental x-rays and processes x-ray film as directed by dentist; Prepare, support, counsel and calm patients for treatment; obtain and update dental records; transportation of patients;
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance and care of supplies, equipment and facilities within the Department of Dentistry; Monitoring, and documenting room inventory and resupplying treatment area on a daily or on as needed basis and monthly; maintain a surgically clean work environment. Maintaining and sterilizing dental equipment; prepares instrument trays for dental procedures; assists with clerical duties included but not limited to: office duties, schedule and confirm appointments, receive patients, keep treatment records; assist in updating and maintaining patient dental records
  • Provides patient care assistance utilizing age specific competencies {geriatric, adult, pediatric, etc.] that meets each patient unique needs.
  • Providing patient education regarding oral care and prevention of oral disease, provide pre and postoperative instruction. Offer patients recommendations and materials necessary to maintain good dental health.
  • Complete no less than one hour of training or education in infection control in a dental setting every two years. Maintains up to date patient care and technical knowledge.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of Certified Dental Assistant Training Program, including:
  • Successful completion of DANB or CODA Infection Control education (ICE)
  • Successful completion of DANB Radiography (RHS)
  • Successful completion of DANB General Chairside Assisting (GC)
  • Two (2) years in a dental practice
  • If certification of DANB or CODA is incomplete, must be completed with three (3) months of employment.
  • CPR certification
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
