Santa Fe Animal Shelter100 Caja del Rio Road, Santa Fe, NM • 505-983-4309Effective Date: August 2025Job Title: Truck Driver/Inventory Processing TeamWork Location: The Cat on Camino Entrada, The Cat on Zafarano, and Shelter (SFAS)Departments: The Cat on Camino Entrada, The Cat on ZafaranoReports to: Associate Director of Retail SalesFSLA Classification:X Full-timex Part-time□ Exempt Salary Range: $17-$19□ Non-ExemptJob Summary:40% of time: The Cat truck driver is responsible for executing the pick-up of large size donated items, scheduling when applicable, loading, unloading and setting up furniture and large items on the floor of both stores. Continuous interaction with managers at each store. You will be front facing contact to the donor and moving the donated item safely from the donor's dwelling. You would be required to move furniture on and off the truck in a safe manner.60% of time: You will be working processing all donations and placing merchandise on the showroom floor. At times you might assist customers in the purchase of items, or handle the cash register. Duties include, but not limited to, processing inventory, tagging, pricing merchandise, and assuring the back processing room is organized and efficient. Duties also include maintaining The Cat warehouse.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:● Must be able to drive a Class 3 vehicle. No CDL is required but encouraged.● Have and maintain a clean driving record● Have the ability to drive a variety of SFAS vehicles.● Maintain truck mileage log, work with the shelter's Facilities Manager in scheduling oil changes, tire rotation and overall truck maintenance.● Adhere to The Cat truck calendar and high standard of punctuality for scheduled pickups.● Schedule pick-ups when applicable.● Provide oversight and guidance to any truck assistants, including modeling positive interactions with donors and colleagues● Responsible for maintaining and organizing the warehouse and processing seasonal items in a timely manner● At times assist in opening and closing the stores when needed.● Ensures the store is clean, organized, welcoming and aesthetically appealing for customers to have an exceptional experience. Assist in the store's task list .● Will be responsible and oversee processing donations: sorting, organizing, tagging, pricing, presentation and ensuring donations are put on the showroom floor in a timely fashion when needed● Always following best practices, procedures and policies and guides them if needed.● Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism to customers at all times.● Understand pricing in terms of the current market value of items in the store.● Have knowledge of trends and styles- ie. vintage vs. old● Have knowledge of valuable item brands (Waterford Crystal vs. cut glass from China, Limoges vs. imitation Limoges)● Knowledge of merchandising and display creation● Understand the price cycle (clothing price cycle 2 weeks, other items discounted only after 30 days then 60 and 90 days) etc, as instructed● Maintain quality control of floor and donations● Have knowledge of displays and store flow (register placement, department flow)● Handle customer disputes immediately and diplomatically and understand when to utilize the supervisor or manager.● Be available to help move heavy artwork or furniture - ability to lift or carry 50 lbs. Ability to lift 100 lbs with assistance.● Communicate professionally and clearly with all Santa Fe Animal Shelter Staff, customers, donors, vendors, volunteers, etc.● Maintain a positive attitude and tone that seeks to uplift fellow employees and customers and encourage harmony.● Must be able to follow the "Chain of Command." Truck Driver/Inventory Processing reports directly to the Associate Director of Retail Sales● Proactive and provides solutions if there appears to be challenges in working conditions, staffing, disgruntlement between employees and or customers.● Any other task may be assigned by the supervisor or store manager.● Must have a valid driver's license.● Must be able to commute to both stores and the shelter - sometimes several times a day.● Ability to quickly problem solve and diffuse difficult situations.● Able to maintain professional demeanor with staff and customers at all times.Preferred fluent in Spanish but not required● Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures● Be able to complete tasks and/or projects as requested by the Associate Director of Retail SalesEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements:● Knowledge of trends, styles both retail and resale as well as the unique look and feel of our community's culture● Extensive knowledge of brands in regards to quality, designer, price, value and demand● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/staff/patrons● Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary communication● Previous retail and customer service experience required● Excels at being a positive inspiration to staff and customers● Professional demeanor and friendly nature.● Professional, diligent and responsible attitude.● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.● Creative and out of box thinking.● Ability to work weekends and holidays.● High school diploma or GED required● Above average in math knowledge and skills● Have and maintain a clean driving record and valid driver's licensePhysical Requirements:● Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.● Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards● Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices● Ability to lift or carry 50 lbs also ability to lift 100 lbs with assistance● Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours.● Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
