- Fuse metal pipe segments together using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.
- Weld pipe components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
- Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material
- Perform normal cutting and grinding tasks
- Ability to fit own pipe together
- Ability to work on a team and interact with people
- Punctual and regular attendance
- Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
- Working knowledge of applicable boiler codes
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Must have the ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy
- Must be a high school or trade school graduate or have a GED
- Two years’ experience in pipefitting, fabricating, pump alignment and boiler operation
- Experience pipe welding to code is preferred
- Ability to obtain welding certification
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work at heights
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and lift and carry 40 lbs. routinely
- Must be able to climb and work on ladders, scaffolding and stairs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl in order to work in tight spaces
- Must be able to use hands to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
