
Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion), Senior

- Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, to include, but not limited to: power supply and propulsion systems.
- Research and develop ship propulsion systems, to include, but not limited to: diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems, and apply to applicable design and requirements.
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery, and review and develop technical data packages, provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements, conduct and oversee trade studies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- At least six (6) years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical Engineering fields.
- Overall experience should include developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.
- At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs required.
- Knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.
- Proficient with common productivity software.
- Strong communications skills.
- Masters degree in Marine or Mechanical engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.
