
Director, Pipeline and External Innovation Communications, Immunology

- Responsible for setting early science communications strategies that drive awareness and understanding of TA portfolio priorities; includes science storytelling on the most compelling areas of science, mechanisms, technologies/platforms for the TA
- Responsible for data/science communications related to the TA portfolio - includes all pipeline assets and pre-approval data and program milestones for expanded indications of on-market medicines (regulatory milestones excluded)
- Responsible for tracking pipeline and portfolio updates, identifying appropriate internal and external communications opportunities
- Responsible for communication planning and execution for scientific data disclosures (e.g., congress presentations, publications), clinical development milestones, regulatory filings, and pre-commercial announcements for Immunology portfolio.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Alliance Management to ensure alignment and integration of communications across functions
- Responsible for supporting communications related to TA-specific clinical trial recruitment priorities
- Responsible for leading communications strategies related to new business development activity and strategic partnerships for Immunology
- Coordinates closely with existing external partners to determine appropriate communications approach for key clinical and business milestones
- Develop and track communications KPIs to measure success, refine strategies, and communicate impact to internal stakeholders.
- Works closely with TA counterparts on the Business Unit Communications and International Public Affairs teams
- Interfaces and aligns with various functions, including government affairs, investor relations, legal, finance, discovery research, clinical development, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, and senior management
- Oversees management of agencies and associated program budgets that support communications
- Scientific acumen to understand complex concepts and translate for target audiences and channels
- Business acumen to appropriately frame the why and contextualize communications priorities that strategically align to business priorities
- Understands how to operate with an enterprise mindset
- Proactively seeks out opportunities to maximize impact of communications
- Ability to breakdown silos to nurture strong cross-functional partnership

- Minimum of 10+ years of integrated communications experience required
- Previous work in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry required
- PhD and scientific communications experience preferred. A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or life sciences field is required
- Demonstrates expertise in developing and executing insight-driven, strategic and measurable internal and external communications programs
- Proven track record of working with senior executives, demonstrates having high-quality executive presence
- Strong scientific understanding of how an asset moves through the discovery and development lifecycle
- Ability to provide strategic counsel for a variety of communications scenarios and to a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, analytical and leadership capabilities
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and navigate a matrixed organization; influence/negotiation skills and relationship management capabilities
