In its first five years of operation, Aspro, Inc. was strictly a producer of asphalt, sand and gravel. In 1978, asphalt paving construction crews were added which accelerated growth even more. Today, Aspro operates two asphalt plants in the Waterloo area and offers asphalt paving, general road and street construction as well as commercial parking lot construction in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area and the surrounding counties.Job Description:Heavy Equipment MechanicResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform major and minor repairs/service work to Aspro's fleet and paving equipment under limited supervision.
  • Perform maintenance work to DOT standards for over the road equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance work on vehicles including lubrication, oil changes and annual inspections during the off season.
  • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
  • Operate basic shop tools to include; welders, torches, impact wrenches, band saw, scaffolding, ladders and other equipment as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A or B is highly desired
  • A valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record
  • Keen attention to detail and a high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have own tools or ability to acquire them
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
