SummaryAs the Elections receptionist/clerk, you will play a key role on the team that administers local, state and federal elections within Lubbock County. This role provides clerical and physical support for all voter registration and election processes.Essential Duties
  • Assist the warehouse technician with preparation, receiving, storing, and testing equipment.
  • Assist the warehouse technician establish and maintain an inventory program for equipment, supplies and forms.
  • Assist the warehouse technician perform all routine maintenance of the election equipment and tracks equipment sent to the vendor for repairs.
  • Assists the warehouse technician oversee the use of bar code technology to record the movement of the voting equipment and components throughout the election process.
  • Performs all post-election requirements on equipment and completes record retention duties.
  • Sort and distribute daily mail.
  • This position will be the first point of contact for the Lubbock County Elections Office.
  • Answering a multi-line phone system with incoming calls, transferring incoming calls, and taking messages as essential.
  • Offering administrative support for the staff of Elections Office.
  • Welcome and greet the public including requests for voter registration and other Election matters on the phone or in person on a daily basis.
  • Filing, scanning, and copying on a daily basis.
  • Maintain office security by following safety procedures and monitoring access via the front office.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position RequirementsHigh school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Two (2) years of clerical experience, and typing speed of at least 35 wpm. Experience with elections or warehouse-related experience. Current Texas driver's license and current automobile liability insurance are required. Must be able to be a registered voter in Texas.Supplemental InformationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of general office practices and procedures including knowledge of county government, services and customer service principles. Must have the ability to multi-task in a high stress environment. Skill or ability to: Maintain records, use word processing and spreadsheet functions, read and understand instructions, use correct grammar and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Communicate effectively verbally, and in writing.
