Dudek is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual for an as-needed, Qualified Stormwater Developer (QSD) certified, Storm Water Inspector. The selected individual will assist with inspecting construction project(s) for compliance with Storm water regulations, particularly the California Construction General Permit. The Storm Water Inspector is responsible for ensuring site compliance with the California NPDES Construction General Permit, the project’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and any other applicable requirements (e.g. Dewatering Permits, etc.). This is a field position requiring the majority of the work hours to be spent in the field at project sites.
This position is a variable hour position and hours worked will vary week to week, depending on project needs. This position is for a minimum of 2 days a week.Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct routine 30-day QSD, semi-annual QSD, pre-storm, storm event, and post-storm inspections as specified in the SWPPP
- Trouble-shoot site compliance and BMP issues
- Communicate site/BMP issues and inspection results with construction and client personnel
- Collect storm water and non-storm water samples
- Conduct field analyses of samples, as needed
- Verify site compliance with SWPPP, maps and permit conditions
- Complete, maintain and submit SWPPP reporting forms
- Advise project management of BMP implementation and other compliance issues
- Facilitate and lead SWPPP-related training and other relevant communications for project staff
- A QSD certification is required
- Strong MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet skills
- Familiarity with Best Management Practice (BMP) and NPDES regulation knowledge
- Familiarity with construction job sites and plans
- Familiarity with field sampling equipment
- Capable of field work and walking on difficult terrain
- Must meet company defined, pre-employment, random, and annual alcohol/drug screen*
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
- As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Four (4) or more years of field storm water and/or construction experience, inspection experience preferred
- A QSD certification is required
- Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) certification (recommended but not required) or an equivalent qualified compliance inspector certification from EnviroCert International, Inc., or CISEC, Inc. or an equivalent accredited agency
- Hold a valid Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) credential or an equivalent qualified compliance inspector certification from EnviroCert International, Inc., or CISEC, Inc. or an equivalent accredited agency (preferred not required)
- Access to a 4WD vehicle for use during inspections (preferred not required). If a 4WD vehicle is required for a specific site inspection, one can be provided
