- Responds to service calls from all departments involving breakdowns to diagnose and repair equipment as required. Responsible for prioritizing repairs with input and direction from plant leadership.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus and discusses it with other maintenance technicians including Maintenance Supervisor. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty hydraulic or pneumatic components; mechanical components, including but not limited to bearings, couplings, etc; combustion components; and electronic components, including but not limited to, power supplies, processor, printed circuit boards, etc.
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (P.M.) on plant equipment including, but not limited to, extrusion presses and auxiliary equipment, melting furnace, casting unit, billet saw, homogenizing furnace, etc.
- Conducts daily inspection of the operation of the air compressors and compressed air system including maintenance of oil levels, air filters, dryer operation, etc.
- Conducts daily inspection of the operation of the cooling water system including maintenance of the water level, water quality, water filtration, etc.
- Performs daily inspection of the operation of the extrusion presses including maintenance of the oil levels, oil leaks, billet heater operation, cutoff saw operation, transfer operation, stretcher operation, etc.
- Installs and/or modifies equipment in cooperation with leadership to improve the reliability, simplify the operation, improve operational safety, etc.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner relative to CMMS.
- Follows company rules, regulations and policies regarding work and safety practices.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area including general housekeeping of the work area upon completion of a repair. Assists with general housekeeping of the maintenance area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- Five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience should include welding competency, hydraulic and pneumatic circuit components, knowledge of relay logic components, PLC logic components, bearing, gear reducers, equipment alignment and piping installation.
- Five to seven years in a manufacturing environment.
- Two to five years electrical experience required.
- Five to seven years electrical experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and electrical measurement instrumentation.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to use measuring devices, rulers, micrometers, etc.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to read maintenance blueprints, hydraulic schematics, ladder diagrams and bill of materials.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
