Position OverviewA well-established provider of precision CNC machine tools and automation systems is seeking a Senior Service Technician to support customers in the field. This role involves hands-on installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of CNC machinery, as well as mentoring junior technicians and ensuring top-tier customer support.The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician with strong electrical and mechanical capabilities, extensive CNC experience, and a passion for solving complex machine issues. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites and a commitment to technical excellence and safety.What We OfferLong-term organizational stability and continued growthCompetitive compensationComprehensive benefits including:Medical insurance401(k)Paid vacation and holidaysSick leaveTuition assistanceKey ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Troubleshooting & RepairDiagnose and resolve complex issues in CNC machines involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and software systems.Machine Installation & CommissioningOversee full installation of CNC equipment, including calibration, leveling, alignment, and integration into production environments.Preventive MaintenanceDevelop and carry out preventive maintenance routines to maximize machine lifespan and performance.Mentorship & TrainingGuide and support junior technicians (Level 1 and 2), sharing best practices and troubleshooting techniques.Customer Support & ConsultationServe as a technical resource for customers, recommending machine upgrades, operational improvements, and support solutions.CNC Software & ControlsProgram and troubleshoot major control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, and Heidenhain. Perform firmware and software updates as needed.Documentation & FeedbackMaintain detailed service logs and diagnostic reports, and share insights with engineering and technical teams for product improvement.Emergency ResponseProvide timely responses to urgent service needs, minimizing downtime at customer facilities.Compliance & SafetyEnsure strict adherence to safety standards, industry regulations, and customer-specific protocols during all service activities.Requirements & QualificationsStrong knowledge of CNC machinery operation, electrical schematics, and mechanical systemsProficient in troubleshooting and programming control systems: Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, HeidenhainFamiliarity with servo motors, drives, PLCs, and industrial automationExperience with laser calibration, ball bar testing, and precision alignmentExcellent communication skills for customer interaction, documentation, and team collaborationProven ability to mentor and lead field service projectsEducation & ExperienceAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience8–10 years of experience in CNC service and repair, with a strong focus on diagnostics and troubleshootingSolid electrical background with the ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawingsExperience training customers on machine operation and maintenanceTravel RequirementsUp to 50% travel, including overnight stays as requiredFrequent visits to customer sites within assigned territoryMust have reliable transportation and a clean driving recordPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsComfortable performing physical tasks including bending, twisting, crawling, and climbing step ladders (up to 8 feet)Capable of driving to job sites daily
