
Senior Traffic Engineer

- Manage traffic projects ranging in size and complexity and/or traffic tasks within larger projects.
- Manage or assist in managing staff plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop or assist in the development of traffic signal designs, traffic studies, safety studies, signing and pavement marking designs, and maintenance of traffic plans.
- Prepare technical reports
- Prepare outward facing documents that present clear and concise findings to a general audience.
- Work within the standards and guidance of clients, both in the public and private sectors.
- Review work prepared by others including studies, traffic analysis, and design.
- Must have a BA in Civil Engineering or related field
- Must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience
- Must have a PE and be able to obtain comity in Kentucky if applicable within 1 year.
- Must have experience in traffic studies, signal timing, signal and pavement marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, ITS experience, lighting design and/or other traffic engineering related experience.
- Ability to work in Civil 3D or Microsoft ORD.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis software such as HCS or Synchro.
- Have a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
- Have experience with traffic engineering projects in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky or Texas.
- Ability to lead traffic projects or tasks, which includes breaking out work to other staff, maintaining budget and schedule, quality review and coordination both internal and external.
- Able to work across disciplines both within transportation (roads, structures, etc.) as well as outside of transportation (private development, municipal development, etc.).
- While the job does not require outward facing coordination, it is preferable that a candidate is comfortable speaking with clients and subconsultant.
- Ability to train less experienced staff is a plus, but this is not a personnel management role.
- Some field work may be required, so transportation is a plus.
