- Provide thought leadership on the integration of CAD and PLM tools to bring electrical design into the digital age, and define innovations to take engineering design to the next level
- Provide mechatronics skill set to electro-mechanical design innovation initiatives and programs
- Provide support to direct programs and capture teams to bring the latest electrical digital engineering innovations to our customers
- Creates solutions from initial concept to fully tested production; and demonstrates results to a broad range of stakeholders
- Works with stakeholders to identify needs and gaps in current electrical design capabilities
- Designs and implements processes and solutions associated with a wide variety of electrical CAD and PLM tools to address these needs and gaps
- Develops designs for electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment
- Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development
- Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures
- Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
- Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience or Masters in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience. An additional 4+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Hands-on experience with electrical design for various systems (low voltage power, controls, instrumentation, ordnance, radio frequency, etc.), wiring harnesses, and printed circuit boards
- Mechatronics experience with electronics interface to hardware
- Hands-on experience with electrical CAD tools (Altium, Solidworks Electrical, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, Creo Schematics, OrCAD, etc.) and Product Lifecycle Management environments
- Strong understanding and ability to create electrical designs using the latest digital design and simulations tools (MATLAB, Altair Multi-Physics Suite, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematical and statistical applications
- Experience with Agile development in hardware systems
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team oriented environment
- Ability to solve a variety of complex problems in the absence of technical guidelines and when creative thinking is required
- Proficiency in programming in at least one programming language (object oriented preferred)
- Ability to work in mechanical design tools (SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, etc…)
- Experience in R, Python or similar applicable programming languages, with some experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools and techniques
