The Correctional Industries (CI) team within the Airway Heights Corrections Center is searching for a personable, friendly and positive individual to join their team as a Warehouse Operator 2! This multifaceted position supports the goals of the Correctional Industries team by demonstrating a good work ethic, pro-social skills, and professionalism in your actions as you mentor, train, and work alongside our incarcerated workforce and while interacting with the general population.As a WO2, you'll be part of an amazing team and organized operation that will provide all the training and support you need to be successful as you begin your career with DOC. Your role is flexible and will vary as you and the CI team adapt to the daily challenges to meet a common goal. In conjunction with the team, you will assist in training, coaching, and mentoring a dedicated crew of incarcerated individuals in the day-to-day operations of the Correctional Industries Commissary, Package Programs, and receiving warehouse.You will help maintain a safe, organized, clean and positive working environment and ensure we fulfill our agency critical objective by distributing commissary and food orders directly to individuals on the living units.   • Performing the work, supervising incarcerated individuals, and participating in the warehousing operations of a medium volume warehouse in the functions of loading and unloading vehicles
  • Opening, packing, unpacking and inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments and relocates warehouse commodities as needed
  • Practicing good inventory control procedures, record maintenance, receiving, storing and distributing goods and services
  • Entering merchandise into TAS inventory system, fills incarcerated individual Commissary orders, investigating reported errors with the offender orders and make corrections when warranted
  • Providing timely delivery of orders to each living unit. Charge and/or credit of incarcerated individual's accounts in TAS for their Commissary orders.
  • Ensuring shipments received are correct and in good condition
  • Ensuring outgoing shipments are properly packaged
  • Following established procedures for facility, equipment maintenance, sanitation and product inventory
  • Training incarcerated individuals in all aspects of warehouse commissary operations.
Procurement of productQualificationsWhat we need (required qualifications):
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • 2 years of warehousing experience

  • 1 year experience in training warehouse workers in warehouse and inventory processes
  • Experience working with incarcerated individuals or in a correctional facility
  • Knowledge of commissary/warehouse systems

Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process.
