Location: Wood Dale, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $28-$30/hr.
Benefits: Benefits ( Health, Medical, Dental), Paid Holidays, PTO, 401kSterling Engineering is hiring a CNC Lathe Setup Operator for a growing manufacturing company in Wood Dale. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a high-precision environment. You’ll be responsible for preparing machines, verifying setups, and producing quality parts to spec.Responsibilities:
  • Set up CNC lathes by installing and adjusting tooling, fixturing, and workholding as needed
  • Load materials and verify part alignment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job travelers
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools
  • Adjust machine offsets to ensure part accuracy and consistency
  • Monitor equipment during operation to detect and correct any issues
  • Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met
  • Document setups and update run logs as needed
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training a plus
  • 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Familiarity with various materials (metals, plastics, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Understanding of safety and quality practices in a manufacturing environment
