Apply today to be a part of this committed team serving the mental health needs of the area.Position Summary:Managerial oversight of all clinical, fiscal, compliance, environmental, and human resources activities for multiple inpatient units. Responsible for the management, evaluation, and coordination of nursing staff, and the direction of patient services for more than 60 inpatient beds.Location: Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC at UTHealth HoustonDept.: BSC Nursing AdministrationStatus: Full-TimeFLSA: ExemptPosition Key Accountabilities:Essential Functions
Provides direction, organization and supervision to 60 plus registered nurses, psychiatric technicians and other nursing services staff to ensure high quality inpatient care on a 24/7 basis.
Participates in the rotation of On-Call-Administrator as needed and cover for the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) role as needed.
Oversees the scheduling/staffing system for Nursing Services to ensure compliance with the approved Staffing Plan and Guidelines.
Collaborates with all clinical treatment members, medical staff and other department heads regarding clinical operations.
Oversees the financial operations, to include management of a $16 million dollar budget, in collaboration with the CNO.
Oversees risk management / performance improvement processes for Nursing Services, to include analyzing data, root cause analysis, and submission of action plans, etc. as indicated.
Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency specifications to meet federal, state and local standards.
Provides guidance, mentorship and feedback to House Supervisors, Clinical Care Coordinators and others to assist in the development of management and leadership skills.
Leads hospital-wide initiatives related to clinical staff issues or patient care issues by chairing and organizing committees.
Initiates and conducts interdisciplinary meetings with all treatment staff, participates and leads ad hoc committees as required by the department.
Monitors and provides oversight of each unit budget, ensures availability of supplies, replacement of essential unit equipment and purchase of new items to assure efficient unit operations.
Conducts/participates and presents research on a national level.
Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) required
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school requiredMinimum Experience: 5 years of nursing experience in a psychiatric setting required Prior supervisory experience preferredPhysical Requirements: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive: This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
