- Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
- Operate lifting and transporting equipment.
- Assist with Quality Control Related Tasks.
- Provide a backup for the Shop Foreman when the Shop Foreman is not available or needs additional support.
- Backup duties may include:
- Provide training for employees.
- Manage, communicate, and document personnel issues.
- Ensure company standards and policies are followed.
- Maintain an overall management style that follows company best practices.
- Provide leadership and direction to employees.
- Ensure product quality and availability.
- Organize employee schedules.
- Ensure that health, safety, and security rules are followed.
- Motivate employees and ensure a focus on the mission.
- Maintain production and a visual plan.
- Complete tasks assigned accurately and efficiently.
- Support Shop Foreman as needed.
- Perform duties for current position when not performing Assistant Shop Foreman activities.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in production welding supervision a plus, but not required.
- Have the ability to work autonomously when required.
- Experience operating a forklift, heavy equipment, and overhead cranes.
- Knowledge of fabrication process and techniques.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and materials.
- Proven experience in getting work done through others in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as ASME Code, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to read and interpret bar-graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out instruction furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Utilize an ERP system and basic computer skills in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to work outside in both a hot and cold environment.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Adhere to Maguire Iron’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work with ladders, catwalks and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
