- Knowledge of engineering tools to perform field inspections of worksites for compliance to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) roadway standards.
- Skilled in communicating technical information verbally and in writing; understanding and interpreting plans, specifications, design standards and manuals; dealing with internal and external customers in a courteous manner; remaining calm and effective under pressure; working effectively as a team member; following oral and written instructions.
- Ability to enter and retrieve information from a computer database; Skill in use of personal computer (PC) and understanding of databases; organizing records and handling multiple tasks and interruptions. Ability to lift 50 pounds and stoop, climb, squat, push, crawl and bend.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete the following self-study courses within 11 months of appointment: Construction Math and Plans Reading. Must also obtain the Advanced Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) certification and the Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector certification (Florida Department of Environmental Protection through the Stormwater, Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Training Program) within one year and maintain it. While on-duty status, may be required to drive a state owned or leased vehicle to perform the duties of this position. Valid Class E Driver License is required. The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates. May be required to work with or around hazardous materials; work nights and weekends and be available for emergency response work as necessary.
