What You'll Be DoingThe Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist provides clinical substance abuse assessment & referral for parents involved with Child Welfare. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, be familiar with Child Protective Services and Permanency Planning, and have experience with adolescents and adults with co-occurring diagnosis. Experience with Motivational Interviewing and Motivation for Change is important to help engage the family and keep them safely intact. This position also specifies that the worker be proficient with assessment/evaluation skills, crisis and assessment issues, and has knowledge of facilities and programs to refer to for the appropriate ASAM treatment needed. The individual must be a team player; since they will be responsible to work collaboratively with approximately 60 Child Welfare Workers and provide case consultations.Essential Functions:
  • Report-writing
  • Testifying in court
  • Providing accurate documentation of contacts, services recommended/or followed through
  • Reviewing lab screen (drugs and alcohol) results
  • On-going research and workshops to maintain up to date knowledge of substances, testing and treatment options
  • Providing educational workshops to staff, as needed

  • Licensed professional in the area of employment
  • Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
  • Must be a fully licensed LCAS
  • Spanish-speaking is highly desirable, but not required
  • Knowledge of community resources for substance use
How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
  • Experience with co-occurring health and mental health problems
  • Application of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services' (SAMHSA) best practice indicators
  • In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Home Visiting Services
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment planning and the field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of the patient community
