Working/Functional TitleAst Inst/Inst/Ast Prof - Fixed TermPosition SummaryThe Department of Theatre at Michigan State University is seeking a full-time assistant instructor, instructor, or assistant professor of Props. This is a fixed-term, nine-month, academic year position beginning August 16, 2024 and is non-renewable. Rank is determined by highest degree, with a bachelor's degree required for an assistant instructor position and an MFA required for an instructor or assistant professor position. All degrees must be confirmed by degree-granting institutions at the time of hire.The successful candidate will teaching an introduction to Props Crafts course to graduate and undergraduate students and serving as a mentor for students assigned as props designers for the 2024/2025 department productions. The successful candidate will also teach a general introduction to technical theatre class. Mentorship requires regular hours in the scene shop and attendance at tech and dress rehearsals for the department shows.Specific Teaching Responsibilities
