We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Prefabrication Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of a pipe prefabrication shop. This leadership role involves coordinating the work of craft personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure high-quality and efficient prefabrication operations. If you're passionate about safety, quality, and continuous improvement, we'd encourage you to apply!Your Key Responsibilities:Lead the team to follow and uphold the company’s Zero Injury Process, including safety programs, incident investigations, audits, and staffing for safety.Supervise craft and union workers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and mentorship programs.Review project specifications and establish clear procedures to meet time, cost, and staffing requirements.Maintain documentation on work requirements, compliance with codes, and labor management.Monitor and report on project progress, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules when necessary.Ensure quality workmanship by inspecting ongoing projects and verifying adherence to specifications.Develop and implement methods for tracking time and materials during preconstruction, and provide feedback to estimating and management teams.Resolve prefabrication issues by collaborating with clients or field personnel, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive actions.Oversee the maintenance of the shop and yard, ensuring equipment is functional, work areas are well-maintained, and safety standards are met.Foster positive relationships with union groups, including participation in the Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JAC).Streamline operations by creating efficient procedures and work schedules.Promote the use of a Production System to enhance overall shop performance.Oversee the procurement of tools and materials, ensuring timely delivery in alignment with work schedules.Direct the work of supervisory staff and subcontractors, coordinating activities to avoid delays in field construction projects.Collaborate with engineers, planners, inspectors, and suppliers to troubleshoot prefabrication challenges and improve methods.Manage recruitment, training, and retention of staff, and conduct performance evaluations.Ensure adherence to company policies, QA/QC processes, and safety regulations.Champion lean manufacturing practices by eliminating waste, reducing cycle time, and improving throughput.Lead continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis and process mapping.Utilize metrics and KPIs to monitor and improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.Lead cross-functional improvement workshops (Kaizen events) to identify and resolve bottlenecks in production flow.Promote a data-driven approach to decision-making, using shop-floor feedback and performance data to guide process changes.Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning within the team.Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of relevant experience in the construction or manufacturing industry;Associate's Degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by 9 years of relevant experience;Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 7 years of relevant experience.Qualifications:Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and the latest safety standards.At least 5 years of supervisory experience in industrial fabrication, manufacturing, or operations management (preferably in heavy industrial settings).Ability to read and interpret safety documents, project specifications, and procedure manuals.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak effectively to teams or clients.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle Primavera P6 and accounting software preferred.Ability to meet company driving requirements.
