You've come to the right place to grow your career.Job DescriptionThe Platform Computing - Unix Engineer is responsible for building secure, scalable, and automated Unix infrastructure. This role brings a security-first mindset to modern infrastructure practices and works across engineering, security, and application teams to implement secure policies, automate public and private cloud governance, and support compliant infrastructure solutions for our business lines. This role is also responsible for continuous monitoring and optimization of public and private cloud implementations for efficiencies and continuous support of, and collaboration with, other teams and projects, particularly Unix application support teams. The person in this role must be a highly driven, collaborative, creative and intellectually curious individual who is passionate about forming and implementing cutting-edge computing capabilities.   • You will design, build, and maintain secure, scalable Unix infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and IBM AIX systems.
  • You will implement and automate security and compliance policies in collaboration with engineering, security, and application teams, using tools like Ansible and scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.).
  • You will provide Tier 3 support for Unix-based systems and applications, including troubleshooting complex issues and optimizing system performance.
  • You will manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (public and private), including AWS and VMware environments, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and adherence to governance standards.
  • You will support and integrate enterprise technologies such as IBM PowerVM, PowerHA, Kubernetes (OpenShift/EKS), middleware (Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere), and storage solutions (SAN, Portworx).
Education & Experience RequirementsThis level of knowledge is normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a technology field and/or 7+ years of related experience. Required:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration (physical and virtual)
  • IBM AIX 7.x administration
  • Knowledge of IBM Power hardware and virtualization (PowerVM)
  • Knowledge of VMware virtualization and administration
  • Shell scripting (Bash, KSH, AWK, Perl, Python, etc)
Bonus skills:
  • AWS deployments and administration
  • Linux kickstart process
  • IBM PowerHA/SystemMirror clustering
  • Kubernetes (especially OpenShift and AWS EKS-Anywhere)
  • Apache Tomcat, RH JBoss, and IBM WebSphere Application server support
  • Kafka setup and administration
  • IBM MQ server
  • Some knowledge of Oracle database (OS/system layer)
  • MS Windows server administration (physical and virtual)
  • DNS, AD, Load balancing
  • Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Ansible automation
  • Portworx storage management
