- Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics' Quality System.
- Create accurate intermediate to highly complex 3D models, assemblies according to project specific inputs and requirements using SolidWorks.
- Create manufacturing drawings of assemblies and models including GD&T and BOM information.
- Interpreting intermediate to highly complex 2D drawings and layouts for migration into a 3D environment.
- Utilizes engineering concepts, company SOPs/WIDs, department SOPs/WIDs, and other sources, e.g. part catalogs, to find additional data to assist in a variety of technical tasks.
- Communicate with internal and external customers and team members regarding project scope, change requests and milestone completions. May make recommendations to solve issues.
- Mentor less experienced drafters.
- Works effectively in a cross-functional environment offering any assistance necessary to complete the end product.
- Produce a wide range of engineering, cable and harness, or mechanical drawings for mechanical equipment under the guidance of engineers and management.
- Monitor schedule constraints on all work. Complete assignments on time and on schedule.
- Maintains sets of drawings, drawing changes, and reports for projects as assigned.
- Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service.
- Must be comfortable receiving feedback and making adjustments to projects in real time.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travel: minimal travel required.
- Team: Supports and works on a team with several engineers and a project manager.
- Associate's degree in Drafting or related technical field required and seven years of experience in drafting or related drafting role OR a High School Diploma and nine years of experience in drafting or related drafting role
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, make recommendations and work effectively in a team environment to resolve them while considering the impact on the rest of the company.
- Ability to respond in a flexible manner and to reprioritize work as the situation demands.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to create intermediate to complex technical drawings under the direction of Engineers and senior drafters.
- Proficient with the operation of SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of (GD&T) nomenclature and conventional symbols of structural, mechanical and engineering drawings and how to incorporate in drawings.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other drafters as well as other department personnel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to positively receive and incorporate feedback and constructive criticism.
