Baggage Handling Systems Operations Manager (On-Site) shall ensure that the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at MCO Airport, operates in an efficient manner including but not limited to manual baggage movement when necessary, loading and unloading of conveyors, baggage alignment, and the clearing of bag jams on the conveyor systems, manual bag recoding/sorting functions, collecting/distributing bag tubs, the cleaning on and around the baggage system and the bag room in general, as well as any other related customer service functions as directed.Role and Responsibilities:
  • The primary responsibility of the On-Site Manager is to ensure the safety of the public, employees, facilities, and equipment while managing the operation and maintenance of all equipment covered herein.
  • On-Site Manager is responsible in matters pertaining operations and activities daily.
  • The On-Site Manager for this Contract shall be a full-time employee based at the terminal complex and shall devote his/her time exclusively to managing operations related to the Baggage Handling Systems at the Orlando International Airport.
  • The On-Site Manager shall be fully responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Baggage Handling Systems inclusive of all aspects of manual baggage handling, jam clearing and bag hygiene as well as repair and maintenance actions.
  • Shall be responsible for the supervision and training of his/her employees to ensure compliance with all provision’s duties.
  • Must ensure safety of all the employees.
  • Must enforce and oversee work safety program.
  • Will maintain ultimate responsibility for adherence to all safety regulations and standards as prescribed by OSHA, as well as all other federal, state, local and Authority mandated safety requirements.
  • Is responsible for all day-to-day operations and maintenance, performance, supervision, and control of services provided and ensure that these services are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Must be fully familiar with the requirements of his/her responsibilities to include the schedules and ensure the proper skilled staffing levels are met.
  • Shall implement policies and procedures relating to all services covered by the application of specifications.
  • Shall issue reports and summaries as required and upon request.
  • Shall develop and implement long-range maintenance and repair plans for equipment and systems.
  • Shall be responsible for training of all Baggage Handling Systems employees in the performance of their duties.
  • Must ensure that the work responsibilities are allocated properly among subordinates by the development and implementation of manpower schedules.
  • Shall establish and coordinate work methods, procedures, and work-scheduling programs to result in a safe, reliable, efficient operation ensuring the ability to meet required goals.
  • Shall be responsible for the adherence to standard practices and quality specifications for all work performed.
  • Shall establish and maintain a program for the acquisition, storage, and accountability of all operating materials, parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Shall make regular inspections of the condition of all equipment and systems, report findings, and include action plan in correcting any deficiencies.
  • Shall serve as the point of contact for manufacturers of equipment in use at the Airport including adherence with safety bulletins, notices and maintenance, and operational manuals.
  • Shall perform any additional duties on an as required basis.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in managing maintenance service operations.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in the aviation, baggage material-handling and/or passenger boarding bridge industry.
  • Experience in managing Contracts of similar size and scope, including managing supervisory staff and personnel, handling employment issues, inventories, and utilizing computerized maintenance management software.
  • Be capable and licensed to drive a motor vehicle.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Hearing abilities required.
Works under the Airport Terminal, in conditions that may contain dust, dirt and continual noise that is below OSHA’s action level.Human Resources Responsibilities:
  • Schedules: Create Employee Schedules for proper shift coverage as business demands.
  • Payroll: Review employee timesheets and approve for payroll processing.
  • Perform all 90 Day Evaluations and or Yearly Performance Appraisals.
  • Support training when appropriate.
  • Interviewing and hire employees with the appropriate skills.
This position operates in the secured area of the airport and requires a security badge. applicants requesting unescorted access to the Sterile or Secured areas of the airport are required to undergo a Criminal History Records Check and will be electronically fingerprinted. applicants must be able to pass SIDA test.
