- This position is located in a manufacturing plant.
- Responsibility for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of the plant's process control and drive programs to maximize production efficiencies and equipment availability.
- Provide the programming for plant process control equipment.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new PLC technologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with impacted stakeholders around needs, project status, etc.
- Support the plant's networking and computer systems as needed.
- Understands digital drive systems, PLC, Process Controllers, sensors, actuators, power supplies, and wiring devices.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues as related to the controls/programming aspects of the equipment.
- Provides assistance within identified projects to assess and document the current control environment.
- Provides assistance to manufacturing staff to support control and automation modifications and/or improvements to help reach attainment goals on new or existing production lines.
- Responsible for the documentation, implementation, startup, and ongoing technical support of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming in an industrial automation environment.
- Design & prepare specifications, calculations, and single-line diagram definitions.
- Adaptable to shift assignments and overtime requirements.
- Performs any other tasks as assigned by Management.
- Certification or specialized education in process control is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability with the engineering, programming, and implementation of industrial control systems.
- Proven experience with control systems components, ladder logic programming, HMI programming and their applications.
- Aptitude for instrumentation and controls design.
- Well developed aptitude around MO computer applications, Project and AutoCAD.
- Display working knowledge of instrumentation and controls design as well as PLC/HMI preferred experience (Allen Bradley, Workshop, Ti-Soft, RSLogix (500 & 5,000), Ignition and Wonderware).
- Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and AutoCAD.
- Python, SQL and other scripting languages are strongly preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot VFDs.
- Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills within a diverse workforce environment.
- Must possess strong analytical skills, a high level of organization, and the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks and implement best in class solutions.
- Self-starter, with excellent organization skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Shift: Typically 5:45 am - 2:15 pm, plus occasional OT including weekend work required.
- Hourly rate range reflects a three step operator rate program. Specific requirements must be met for advancement to the next level.
