- Install, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for risk reduction.
- Collaborate in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
- Review and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communications.
- Evaluate and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
- Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures
- May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians
- May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation)
- Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System
- Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements.
- Track and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR
- Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.
- Knowledge/experience with Federal and Arizona water quality regulation and programs (CWA, NPDES, APP, drinking water, Etc.).
- Familiarity with hydrogeologic field methods (e.g., well installation, aquifer testing, water sampling).
- Experience with data analysis, databases (e.g. EQuIS) and data validation.
- Understanding of groundwater modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
- Familiarity with well development techniques and well health programs.
- Project management experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork under varying conditions.
- Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
