Dr. Barnes and our staff make the office environment warm, welcoming, and enjoyable, creating a place where families feel comfortable and cared for at each visit.As an Orthodontic Assistant, you’ll play a key role in delivering excellent patient care. Your responsibilities include:Responsibilities:
  • Assist Orthodontists chairside during procedures
  • Greet and escort patients, ensuring they feel comfortable
  • Take radiographs as instructed by the provider
  • Set up and break down operatories and clean them after each patient
  • Stock materials needed in the clinic daily
  • Sterilize and maintain equipment and materials following OSHA, federal, and state guidelines
Basic Requirements:
  • 0–5 years of experience
  • Ability to travel between two office locations: Cumming & Hamilton Mill
  • Vocational/Technical training or Associate’s Degree
  • Radiology certification and DPH Dental Assistant License
  • Familiarity with dental software, email, and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Beginning records: study models, X-rays, panorex, cephalometric, digital photographs
  • Efficient in 1BA, adjustments, FCDB, and debands
  • Impressions: pouring and trimming models for appliances and presentation
  • Ship/receive and properly store lab materials (retainers, study models, appliances)
  • Intra-oral and extra-oral photography
  • Removal of fixed bands/brackets, ligature removal/replacement, wire removal/placement
  • Size, fit, and cement orthodontic bands
  • Itero machine scanning and fabrication of orthodontic retainers
  • Ortho case presentations to patients/parents
  • Patient communication regarding POH, rubber band wear, treatment progress, and cooperation
  • Order orthodontic supplies and maintain infection control procedures
  • Strong written, oral, and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, well-organized, and able to manage time efficiently
