We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our High-Performance Hose Manufacturing Facility (HPH) as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in West Plains, Missouri.The HPH facility is within Caterpillar's Integrated Components Division (ICD) which is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In ICD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the first fit and service part value streams from procurement to design and manufacturing. ICD is responsible for the design and manufacture of Wear & Maintenance Components, e.g., Steel Products (Undercarriage and GET) and Specialty Products (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).What You Will Do:Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Serves as a core leadership team member, managing up to 12 direct reports including Manufacturing Technicians, Engineers, and Crib operations.
  • Oversees Manufacturing Engineering functions, ensuring cost-effective production of high-pressure hose through optimized layouts, equipment, and processes.
  • Leads engineering support for current and new manufacturing processes, quality management, tooling, robotics, NC programming, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Enhances machine shop performance by selecting tools, layouts, and sequences to reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.
  • Ensures facilities and methods align with product programs and capacity plans, maintaining cross-departmental collaboration to meet manufacturing goals.
  • Builds and sustains a high-performing team to support manufacturing objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Manages capital projects, including forecasting, planning, and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Promotes technological advancement and equips teams with tools that meet evolving shop needs.
  • Develops long-term cost reduction strategies and drives improvements in project performance, customer satisfaction, and asset utilization.
  • Establishes standards and resolves shop-level issues related to process, tooling, equipment, quality, and safety.
Education requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
What skills you will have:Lean Manufacturing:
  • Proven track record of applying lean principles to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
  • Expertise in leading Kaizen events and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Background in implementing value stream mapping and 5S practices across production areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and lead cross-functional teams in adopting lean tools and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Manufacturing Processes:
  • Strong foundation in diverse manufacturing methods, including machining, assembly, and molding.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize process flows for improved efficiency and product quality.
  • Background in diagnosing and resolving complex process-related challenges.
  • Skilled in leading teams through process documentation, validation, and compliance with industry standards.
Capacity Planning & Management – MFG:
  • Proven success in aligning production capacity with demand forecasts and business goals.
  • Expertise in managing labor, equipment, and workflow to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Background in using ERP/MRP systems for effective capacity analysis and planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional manufacturing projects, including scaling operations and integrating new technologies.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate data and make strategic, high-impact decisions.
  • Background in leading cross-functional teams through structured problem-solving approaches.
  • Proven track record of making sound decisions under pressure and uncertainty.
  • Skilled in balancing cost, quality, and delivery to support operational and business objectives, especially within project and leadership contexts.
Top Candidates will also have:
  • Previous experience with Lean, 6 Sigma
  • Previous hydraulic hose manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge managing projects
