Location: McLean, VA

2 rounds of technical interviews with team members (including coding assessments in Python/Scala).About the Role
The client is seeking a Python Developer to join our Card Tech decisioning platform team. This role is focused on application-based cloud engineering, backend development, and deployment of platform components in AWS. The team is responsible for building and maintaining scalable systems that support thousands of decisioning use cases, including but not limited to card approvals.
This is a contract-only role with no conversion eligibility at this time. The position requires reporting onsite in McLean, VA from day one (relocation acceptable if available by start date).Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices within the decisioning platform.
Build and optimize data pipelines and batch processing solutions using AWS and Snowflake/Databricks.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from coding to deployment and monitoring.
Develop APIs and integrate with data sources including DynamoDB, Snowflake, and Databricks.
Own end-to-end deployment of components using CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate within an Agile environment, actively participating in planning, grooming, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of decisioning platform applications.Required Skills & Experience
Prior Client experience is required
8+ years of professional experience in software/cloud engineering.
Strong programming expertise in Python (primary) and Scala (secondary).
Hands-on experience with AWS services (DynamoDB, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS/SNS).
Proficiency with Databricks, Snowflake, and data engineering concepts.
Experience building and consuming backend APIs.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Strong understanding of batch processing and event-driven architecture.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as an individual contributor.Nice to Have
Experience with React-based UIs (not mandatory).
Prior experience working at Capital One.
