- Read and comprehend written and verbal instructions, detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents, and be capable of doing basic mathematical calculations.
- Proficiency in working with various paints, coatings, and finishes, including selection, application, and mixing.
- Operate painting or coating equipment.
- Knowledge of preparing various surfaces (e.g., metal, wood, plastic) for specialized painting applications.
- Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam, sandpaper, or cloth.
- Ability to work with high precision and attention to detail to achieve specific finishes and effects.
- Apply coatings, such as paint, ink, or lacquer, to protect workpiece surfaces, using spray guns, pens, scrapers, or brushes.
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, weather events, humidity and temperature of the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications and retouch any defective areas.
- Read job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work procedures and materials required.
- Select and mix ingredients to prepare coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or mechanical mixers
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and find solutions for complex painting projects.
- Check for good edge margins and alignment.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
- Understand and execute work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely stores equipment and supplies.
- Inspect work for the highest quality.
- Maintain strict attention to detail when working at customer's property.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards.
- Support 5-S and adhere to health, safety, and environmental company guidelines.
- Perform cross-functional operations.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Experience operating HVLP spray guns, including adjusting for proper paint flow to ensure high-quality finishes.
- Proficient in masking surfaces in preparation for painting to ensure clean, precise finishes.
- Skilled in applying paint and coatings to aerospace hardware in accordance with industry standards.
- Experienced in measuring paint thickness to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Experience with specialized painting equipment, tools, and techniques (e.g., spray guns, airbrushes, automated painting systems).
- Experience with techniques like airbrushing, stenciling, custom finishes, or applying specific coatings (e.g., epoxy, powder coating).
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal background investigation and soft-inquiry credit check.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug and alcohol test.
- Employee spends most of the day on their feet and must follow strict safety rules. They wear safety glasses to protect their eyes from airborne debris. Loud noise from machinery requires use of hearing protectors. They wear hard toe shoes or boots to protect their feet from potentially dropped objects.
