
Principal Test Automation Development Engineer (Onsite)

- Develop test hardware and software, from requirements definition through build and integration processes, followed by deployment to manufacturing or customer facilities. Design, support and integration skill sets may include multiple disciplines in communications, RF, analog, digital, firmware, as well as systems integration.
- Proven project leadership knowledge, leading a multi-disciplined team through program execution and deployment. Schedule development and tracking for program planning/execution, while tracking any deviations from plan to actual
- Proposal and bidding experience to foster new technologies and business growth overall.
- In depth knowledge of computer architecture, COTs equipment, interconnects/interfaces and standard communication protocols.
- Proven skills in software development and integration using tools including NI TestStand, LabVIEW and/or LabWindows (CVI).
- Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personnel interaction and collaboration with a multi-discipline team. Example of this would be define and lead a Preliminary and Detailed Design Review.
- Prepare and clearly present your work product at project status meetings
- Understand and responsibility to meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments.
- Work with mechanical engineering to design and develop test adapter and fixturing design activities. AutoCAD knowledge a plus.
- Ability to function autonomously with limited supervision, as an individual contributor, within a multi-functional team environment.
- Support Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with production and design engineering teams.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in engineering design and development, with leadership experience, preferably related to Test equipment development efforts.
- Experience working in the engineering laboratory and transitioning automated solutions to production environments, delivering hardware and software deliverables providing on-site training to final operators.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, working individual tasks as well as within a team environment, and technical writing skills (MS Word, MX Excel, MS Visio).
- Experience with National Instruments’ software suite, including TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW.
- Hardware station design efforts utilizing rack instrumentation, PXIe/MXI, VME application development.
- Experience with Digital, RF, and/or Power Supply test hardware and/or software design.
- Understanding of engineering processes: CMMI, 6 sigma.
