Software Lifecycle Management Specialist (Contractor)Our client is seeking a contractor to support their enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management Initiative. Over time, the internal software catalog has accumulated a significant number of legacy, redundant, and unsupported applications. This initiative aims to identify, assess, and retire these titles to reduce risk, cost, and complexity across the organization.Responsibilities:
Lead and support full lifecycle EOL software project activities
Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams
Manage risks, issues, and change requests
Ensure successful decommissioning of targeted software
Conduct environment-wide software discovery and usage analysis
Identify unsupported, vulnerable, and redundant software titles
Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to validate EOL candidates
Document findings, decisions, and remediation plans
Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry best practices
Provide technical leadership and guidance on software lifecycle management
Present findings and recommendations to technical and business audiences
Standard Packaging Performance:
Pre-Packaging Research and Validation
Packaging Work
Quality Control/Validation of Package
MECM Integration/Application Creation
Validation of Install/Uninstall via MECM
Create AD Group for Application in Test OU
Collaborate with Customer as they perform UAT
Create User-Centric User and Device Collection(s) via the User-Centric Right-Click Tool and/or Manual Query Creations
Setup Pilot Deployment(s) of Application through MECM (including any Change tickets)
Move AD Group for Application to Prod OU
Setup Deployment to Prod through MECM (including any Change tickets)
Retire/Delete Old Version(s) of the Software (AD, MECM, and MDT)
E-mail Appropriate Groups with Notification of Retired/New Software and Ensure Final Cleanup
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of software lifecycle and EOL processes
Proficiency in PowerShell, SQL, WQL, Power BI, and software inventory tools
Experience with Change Management Processes, including initiating, documenting, and submitting change tickets
Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
Experience with packaging, repackaging, and software deployment technologies
Familiarity with Windows 10/11, MAC or VDI Enterprise Environment
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Desired experience with Splunk/UberAgent
Desired experience with InstallShield and Liquidware FlexApp
Desired 3+ years Software Package Engineering experience
