- Achieve accurate execution via continuous, programmatic reinforcement of the rudiments of operational excellence
- Ensure adequate staff is available to conduct departmental operations.
- Ensure departmental staff is properly equipped to conduct necessary operations.
- Direct operations leaders to ensure operations are conducted in a manner which is consistent with regulatory and business drivers.
- Escalate issues the appropriate management level when necessary. Ensure operations are conducted following all HSE and GMP requirements.
- Ensure self and direct reports are in compliance with necessary training and applicable qualifications for the assigned tasks.
- Ensure performance management and development plans are in place for all operations staff.
- Use appropriate balance of recognition and discipline to drive accountability of staff.
- Ensure adequate supply of material is available to the downstream customer.
- Serve as a coach and mentor.
- Develop business plans for the department and manage the departmental budget.
- Work with functional leadership to organize, prioritize, and deliver on initiatives to drive continual improvements.
- Minimum B.S. in engineering/chemistry/biochemistry or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of applicable manufacturing-related experience, preferably some biosynthetic, fermentation, and/or purification operations experience.
- Ability to instill teamwork within the department and demonstrate key interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make decisions independently and to network with others as appropriate.
- Ability to function in a team environment as a leader and as a member of management teams.
- Demonstrated skills in project management and coordination.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to audiences at all levels of the broader manufacturing organization
- Must complete Learning Plan for Associate Director – Mfg Ops.
- No certifications required.
- Tasks require entering manufacturing areas that require wearing appropriate PPE.
