We thrive on innovation, making an impact, and fostering an environment where staff and faculty are key contributors to UC's success.Job OverviewThe College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The APP will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. Facilitate the delivery of care for inpatient and outpatient situations and perform independently or as part of a treatment team.Estimated clinical efforts will include seven 4-hour outpatient clinics each week. This position will be an Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Center focused position. The clinics sessions will primarily be at West Chester Hospital along with some clinics at MAB and other UC Health Clinical sites as needed. You will assist the division with the influx of new patients and determine if additional patient care or procedures needed from subspecialist (luminal, liver, or pancreas). This APP may also be expected to participate in teaching activities for our students, residents and fellows.Essential Functions
  • Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in research and development projects.
  • Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.

Minimum RequirementsNurse Practitioner:Required Education
Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
Required Experience
Three (3) years nursing experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.-OR-Physician Assistant:Required Education
Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
