Follow us on , , and .BWXT's Nuclear Operations Group - Lynchburg is currently seeking an Advanced Development Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!The Advanced Development Unit seeks a self-motivated engineer to help develop the products and manufacturing methods of the future. The selected candidate will work with a team of open-minded engineers and technical personnel.Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Develops next generation components and fabrication methods as related to current and future product, processes, and methods.
  • Designs and executes development workscopes independently and in teams.
  • Supports shop floor development operations, resolves fabrication issues, and generates process improvement ideas.
  • Plans and manages ongoing development by preparing procedures, drawings, and routing documents.
  • Communicates results of development workscopes by authoring detailed reports documenting areas of success, concern, and opportunity.
  • Leads project teams to solve problems or initiate new projects.
  • Supports associated equipment acquisitions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics.
  • Must possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively work with both hourly and salary employees.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative design team.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preffered Qualifications:
  • NOG-L Lower Tier manufacturing experience.
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000 and $165,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
