Operating as a dedicated Training and Conference Center, our purpose revolves around supporting the Sales Enablement team for Whirlpool Corporation.Situated within our building, the 8th floor is transformed into a state-of-the-art showroom, featuring 11 fully functional kitchens. This remarkable space serves as a hands-on training ground for trade partners, including sales representatives from renowned companies such as Home Depot. In 2010, Whirlpool made a strategic decision to create its own showroom floor, eliminating the need to transport appliances to trade shows.At Pyramid Global Hospitality, our role is pivotal in supporting this endeavor. We provide comprehensive hospitality services, including housekeeping, food and beverage offerings, meticulous event setups, and overall operational support. We are both an appliance showcase highlighting a select group of Whirlpool Corporation brands, and a hands-on experience center offering exciting workshops and a chance to interact with experts.
QualificationsBASIC FUNCTION: The Prep Cook primary role is to assist the Executive Chef & culinary team with a variety of tasks such as food prepping while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and work station. They will also anticipate the needs of the Demo Chefs and provide support throughout the training events. Responsible for upholding the philosophy and values of the owner and Benchmark Hospitality. Responsible for assisting the execution of group events according to event orders and daily operations of the training facility. Is a role model of our Mission, Core Values, First Priorities, Policies and Procedures.The Prep Chef is part of a small, core team that helps create and execute a fun and engaging program in an interactive branded environment. The World of Whirlpool brand in Chicago is the first of its kind. There is potential for growth on our team and this role. We’re passionate about making the daily chores of cooking, cleaning, and washing easier while creating an engaging/learning environment for our employees and our guests.WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday and varies based on client needs and business demands.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years work experience in a commercial kitchen preferred.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move about for extended periods of time.
  • Passionate about cooking.
  • ServSafe or similar food safety course certification preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to count accurately.
  • Must be able to read and write, along with effectively communicating in the English language.
  • Ability to transport, handle and/or lift 100 lbs. (NOTE: kitchen equipment and food and non-food items).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Attention to detail & following a recipe guide.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work environment at all times, participate in pre and post shift cleaning and organization to include but not limited to cleaning walls and kitchen ceilings as needed, kitchen equipment, walk in fridge/freezer storage, dry storage, trash, recycling, mopping and sweeping.
  • Accept food deliveries and be able to catch quality control concerns on the Executive Chef’s behalf.
  • Be the right hand to the demo chef in demos, events and public/private workshops by:
-aiding with culinary prep (chopping, cooking, reheating)-assisting guests during hands-on cooking workshops-plating and serving in front of guests-taking and filling drink orders-showing guests to the restroomAbility to organize, label and store food items properly after accepting deliveries.Assist with preparing food items according to the Chef’s specifications, along with small kitchen projects like vegetable cutting, meat slicing, etc., as needed.Follow proper pre-washing scraping, sorting, and stacking procedures to minimize breakage. * Follow all Safety and sanitation practices.
  • Maintain organization of space by making sure tools and equipment are put away in the correct location and alerting appropriate staff to any cleaning or maintenance issues.
  • Remove trash and properly dispose of compost when necessary.
  • Be an integral part of our small team in solving problems and suggesting new ideas.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Assist in other areas of the World of Whirlpool & First Floor Experience Center, as needed.
  • Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule.
  • Maintain the highest level of employee/guest relations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all Departments.
  • Perform other job functions when assigned to ensure property/company goals and guest expectations are exceeded.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness of all entire culinary spaces, including but not limited to washing dishes, trash removal and proper floor cleaning.
