- Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all communications and interactions with students, alumni, faculty, colleagues, vendors, and community members.
- Assist with student record maintenance, retention, and destruction projects.
- Process transcripts in accordance with established policies and procedures for accurate and timely distribution.
- Answer students' specific and general questions about academic records.
- Address student-specific issues: processing transactions, trouble-shooting, varied office functions and tasks assigned to this role.
- Prioritize daily tasks under the direction of senior staff.
- Resolve issues and problems relating to the area of responsibility assigned to this position.
- Perform other office-related duties and special projects as assigned such as ordering office supplies.
- Attend training and maintain skill currency as appropriate to safely and effectively complete assignments.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Four years of general office support, customer service support, or technical experience.
- Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills: ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to make decisions, identify problems and develop practical solutions and must keep their supervisor aware of workload issues, problems, upcoming deadlines, etc.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, work independently or on a team, facilitate timely completion of tasks and meeting deadlines for assignments; multi-task in a busy, noisy, enclosed environment, taking initiative, prioritizing work, and applying reasoning and judgment to develop practical, thorough, and creative solutions to routine or complex problems.
- Ability to use voice mail, email, and a wide range of general office equipment and functions
- Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, online systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
- Ability and willingness to quickly learn new systems and software.
- Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn institutional infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency with student information systems.
- Previous work experience in an institution of higher education, notably the registrar's office.
- Demonstrated experience working within an intercultural or international context.
- Fluency in a language other than English.
